My current position, projects and main research interests

I am an associate professor at the Iscte-IUL (Lisbon University Institute) and a researcher at the Centre for Sociological Studies and Research, Lisbon University Institute (CIES-Iscte. I earned my PhD from the European University Institute (EUI, Florence) in 2011 with a thesis on symbolic representation from a gender and comparative perspective.

Currently, my research interests are gender and politics, comparative politics and political representation.

I have been part of various national and international research projects focusing on these and other topics, such as the QUING European Project, and the “Collaborative Research: Electoral Systems and Party Personnel: The Consequences of Reform and Non-Reform”

I am currently a member of the project: “How Members of Parliament in Africa Represent their Constituencies – HOME” and of the program: “Portuguese Electoral Behavior”.
